Y5/6 Gymnastic teams leave Barnsley speechless!
Today, the Y5/6 girls and boys gymnastic teams competed at Barnsley gymnastics centre. We entered 3 teams in to the tournament, two of which entered the advanced league and 1 entering the amateur league. They all performed outstandingly well with 2 teams winning their league and qualifying for the South Yorkshire event and the other team finished in an impressive 3rd place. Take a look at what they won! Videos are to follow soon. Well done to all that took part!

Year 4/5 Futsal Victory
Today, the year 4 and 5 boys travelled to shoot 5 to take part in a Futsal tournament and stormed to victory. The boys won all of their qualifying matches and bagged themselves a place in the semi finals against shawlands where they won a comfortable 5-1. With this win, they grew in confidence and won in the finals again Silkstone, 3-1, and have now qualified for the South Yorkshire Futsal finals. Well done boys! I would like to say a huge thank you to Mr Woodger for investing time, training the boys during his lunch hour. I think the trophy will be enough to put a smile on his face. What do you think everyone?

YEAR 3/4 FOOTBALL TEAM SHOCK SOUTH YORKSHIRE!
Yesterday, the Year 3 & 4 football team traveled to Doncaster in hope to win the South Yorkshire Football Finals, which they had earlier qualified for through their local district. The boys made a slow start to the tournament but found their feet as the tournament went on, winning 4 out of 7 games. Eventually the scores were counted and points were verified. We couldn't believe how well we did coming 2nd out of 8 teams at the South Yorkshire finals. In total 400 schools had entered to tournament prior to the SY Finals and for the boys to have come second was an outstanding achievement. This reflects their willingness to succeed and drive within the football game. We at Penistone St John's are extremely proud of each and every one of you. Well done boys! Thank you to all parents who came to support the team and braved the Yorkshire elements.

Y5/6 Boys to be South Yorkshire champions?
So today hosted the Barnsley football finals where we had two teams that had qualified earlier in the year. It was the hardest tournament to date, with some incredibly high standards of football from the best schools in Barnsley. Our A team did amazingly well but didn't progress past the qualifying stages but our B team went ahead to win the title of Barnsley Football Champions and proceed to the South Yorkshire finals later next week. Well done to both teams for their tremendous effort and thank you to all parents who came to support our teams. Can we win South Yorkshire next?
